  • 2A11 aluminum bar has high strength and good heat resistance, suitable for components operating below 150°C.
  • At temperatures above 125°C, 2A11 alloy has higher strength than 7075 alloy.
  • The alloy has good formability in hot, annealed, and newly quenched states and can be strengthened through heat treatment, though the process is strict.
  • 2A11 aluminum alloy has poor corrosion resistance but can be effectively protected with pure aluminum cladding.
  • While welding may cause cracks, it can be welded using special techniques and can also be riveted.

2A11 aluminum bar heat treatment specifications

  • Homogenizing annealing: heat to 480–495°C; hold for 12–14 hours; furnace cool.
  • Full annealing: heat to 390–430°C; hold for 30–120 minutes; air cool.
  • Rapid annealing: heat to 350–370°C; hold for 30–120 minutes; air cool.
  • Quenching and aging: quench at 495–510°C, water cool; artificial aging at 155–165°C, 6–10 hours, air cool; natural aging: 96 hours at room temperature.
